Car Insurance Chrysler (Car Insurance). Will changing my brake fluid restore fluidity?

Will changing my brake fluid restore fluidity? Will my brake pistons move more fluidly if I change the brake fluid?

not likely. If you have a piston not retracting, it means the groove in the bore casting that the seal ring lays in has crud in it, keeping the seal ring from flexing properly and pulling the piston back in. You should at least pull the piston, clean the groove out, put in a new seal ring and reassemble. If the caliper pistons are sticking then the only thing that will help the condition is either rebuilding the calipers or replacing them. Simply changing the brake fluid will not help the situation. that won,t help a bit. if they are sticking then you need to replace them or clean the slides where the caliper bolts up to. you dont change brake fluid jusst top it off as needed as it gets low. sounds like your calipers need rebuilt. if they stick. or if they dont seem to work much then bleed the brake system If you have to "top off" the brake system, you have a leak. Brake fluid is hygroscopic. This means that it will readily absorb moisture. In fact, it will absorb moisture out of the air. Moisture in your brake fluid does two things. When the brake fluid becomes hot under hard braking, the water in the brake fluid boils. This causes steam voids in the brake system which causes a dramatic reduction in braking capability. In severe cases it can cause braking capability to be lost completely. Moisture in the brake system also causes internal corrosion of brake system components resulting in loss of braking capability. Therefore, it is extremely important to change your brake fluid at the specified intervals. Your brake fluid should be changed at least once per year and more frequently if the car is tracked. In fact, some PCA regions require that your brake fluid be changed within three months of a driving event. Make sure you use a good DOT 4 brake fluid. DO NOT use DOT 3 or DOT 5 fluid. For cars that are frequently tracked, you should use a brake fluid with a higher boiling temperature. ATE Super Blue is one of the more commonly used high temperature brake fluids. You got me... I find this. http://milanstreet.info/34209/brake-piston

Chrysler . How to Replace the A/C Compressor in a Honda Accord

The Honda Accord uses an optional air-conditioning system to lower the temperature inside the car; the system has a condenser, evaporator and compressor that circulate Freon through a channeled blower fan. The compressor can wear out and require replacement; this can take the average backyard mechanic about an hour to complete.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Socket set
Screwdrivers
Freon fill valve (gauge recommended)

Step by Step :
1
Evacuate the A/C system with certified collection equipment by taking your Honda Accord to a garage or oil-change facility. Most garages will evacuate the system for free, as they are paid according to how much Freon they collect. The system must be evacuated and depressurized with professional equipment.
2
Disconnect the battery by turning the positive terminal bolt in a counterclockwise direction. Set the terminal aside, so that it does not touch metal.
3
Remove the drive belt from the compression pulley. Press firmly onto the tension pulley to get enough slack to work the primary drive belt off the idle pulley at the top of the motor. Let go of the tension pulley, and the belt should now have enough slack to be removed from the compressor pulley wheel. Slide it from the grooved pulley carefully.
4
Disconnect the wiring harness adapter by pulling it free of the compressor terminal.
5
Remove the line bolts that connect the Freon exchange lines to the compressor by turning their hexagonal ends counterclockwise. Some latent hissing may occur from the evacuation, but it should not be sustained or dangerous.
6
Remove the compressor by turning the mount bolts counterclockwise, sliding the bolts out of the mount arms, then working the compressor free.
7
Replace the compressor with a new unit by positioning it into the mount arms, then sliding the mount bolts back into place. Turn the mount bolts clockwise until snug.
8
Plug the wiring harness back into the compressor by pressing the adapter plug onto the compressor terminal.
9
Restore the exchange lines by turning their line nuts clockwise into the correct openings on the compressor. Replace the gasket on the end of each line if necessary.

Step by Step :
10
Secure the drive belt over the A/C compressor pulley wheel, then press the tension pulley firmly to slide the belt underneath the idle pulley. Release the tension pulley and the belt will tighten.

Step by Step :
11
Replace the battery terminal by turning the positive terminal bolt clockwise until snug.

Step by Step :
12
Refill the system with Freon by plugging the female adapter tip on the Freon fill valve into the male adapter on the evaporator line. The valves available will allow only the correct connection; don't force the valve nozzle onto the wrong nipple. Run the A/C with the can of Freon connected, and the system will draw the coolant into the lines. Your Honda Accord will take in about 1.6 pounds of 134a coolant.
Tips & Warnings
Convert older R-12 Freon systems to 134a Freon for less expensive coolant.

Do not vent the Freon into the atmosphere if possible.

Chrysler . How to Replace a Dodge Neon Air Conditioning Compressor

A compressor is the part of an air conditioner that compacts the fluid to give it more energy. If the compressor is malfunctioning, it reduces the A/C's performance. If you must replace the compressor in your Dodge Neon, you also need to replace the accumulator. Working on an air-conditioning system can be highly dangerous due to pressure in the system, so having a professional work on this is highly recommended.
Difficulty:Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Jack stands
Lug wrench
Socket wrench
Rubber plugs
Air-conditioning compressor
Air-conditioning accumulator
R-134a-compatible refrigerant oil
O-ringsCompressor

Step by Step :
1
Have the air-conditioning system discharged before you work on any part of the system. This must be done by an air-conditioning or automotive shop licensed to do so.
2
Disconnect your car's negative battery terminal, then raise and secure the vehicle on jack stands and remove the passenger-side wheel. Remove the drive belt by rotating the tensioner pulley clockwise with a 17 mm wrench.
3
Disconnect all lines and connectors from the compressor; this includes the electrical connector for the compressor clutch, the refrigerant lines and the high-pressure cutoff switch from the back of the compressor. Plug the refrigerant lines with rubber to prevent contamination. Remove the four mounting bolts on the compressor and lift it out.
4
Pour out the refrigerant oil from the old compressor into a graduated container. Add the same amount of fresh oil to the new compressor. If the new compressor does not have a clutch installed, disconnect the clutch from the old compressor and install it.
5
Install the new compressor and all other parts in reverse order of removal. Replace any O-rings that were used on the line fittings, making sure the new O-rings are made for use with R-134a refrigerant. Lubricate the O-rings with refrigerant oil.
Accumulator

Step by Step :
1
Remove the mounting bolts for the cruise control servo, and set the servo assembly off to the side. Don't disassemble any of the servo's components.
2
Remove the low-pressure cycling switch from the accumulator by unplugging its electrical connector and removing the screws. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the accumulator, and plug them. Remove the bracket screw on the accumulator's base, and remove the accumulator.
3
Add an ounce of refrigerant oil to the new accumulator and install it in reverse order of removal. Reinstall the pressure cycling switch and the cruise control servo.
4
Return the Neon to the air-conditioning/automotive shop to have your air-conditioning system evacuated, recharged and leak-tested.

Keeping your engine clean • Cleaning your vehicle's interior J\ car is more than a collection of parts and systems. When you drive v \ your vehicle or try to trade it in or sell it, it's judged on its appearance as well as its performance. Contrary to popular belief, the main reason for washing your car often and keeping a good coat of wax on it is not to keep it looking good, but to wash away the salt, mud, and chemical-laden dust and dirt that provide breeding grounds for rust and accelerate paint deterioration. If you don't care how your car looks and intend to drive the same machine until it spontaneously destructs like the "Wonderful One-Horse Shay" (which, according to the poem, ran perfectly for 100 years and then abruptly ceased to exist when everything failed at once), consider this: After years of driving and restoring cars, I've found that clean vehicles run better! After all, humans, plants, and animals respond to being kept clean and cared for, so why shouldn't your car? And if you think that a vehicle is an insensitive object, you haven't been reading this book very carefully. At any rate, why not try it and see? All it costs you is a little elbow grease and a few soap bubbles. li 7 0 Part V: He|Ping Your Car Look lts Best Cleaning the Exterior

Keeping the exterior of your vehicle clean isn't a matter of being a fanatic who spends every second of free time washing and waxing and dusting; just spending an hour or two each week can keep your new set of wheels young or brighten up Old Faithful. Washing your Vehicle If you live in an area near the seashore, where a lot of salt is used on the roads in the winter, or where there is industrial air pollution, it's imperative that you wash your vehicle as often as once a week. If you have no access to a hose or a place to wash your car, or if the weather in your area gets so cold that the water freezes on the windshield, drive to one of those coin-operated

do-it-yourself car washes and use its facilities. The steamy hoses keep both you and your car warm enough to wash away the mud and salt in the winter and can do an even better job than you could do at home, especially if your water pressure is low. Most people think that there's nothing special to know about washing a car, but this isn't the case. Doing the job efficiently saves you time and effort and the car comes out looking great. If you work in a haphazard way, the task takes much longer, and you run the risk of scratching the finish, streaking the surface, and leaving the body vulnerable to rust. If your vehicle was built after the mid-1980s, it probably has a clear

.Chapter 23: Keeping Your Car Clean and Beautiful f»71 If you've never washed the vehicle with a hose before, spray lightly around the edges of the windows and the rear deck lid for a short time and then check to see if the weather-stripping leaks. If it does, consult the instructions in Chapter 24 for patching or replacing weather-stripping, and try to avoid spraying these areas until you remedy the problem. Conserve water. Don't let the hose run while you work. Use it only to wet and rinse the car, and shut it off when you don't need it. Car Wash Association studies have found that people often use as much as 140 gallons for a single car wash, which isn't surprising when you consider that a &inch hose can deliver 14 gallons of water per minute. Use just enough water pressure to wet the exterior efficiently. Blasts at extremely high pressure may loosen and chip paint and parts. Use a sponge, soft rag (old terrycloth towels or T-shirts are wonderful), or cotton wash mitt. To avoid cobwebby scratches, follow the contours of the surface rather than going in circles. Rinse the rag often to get rid of grease and dust particles. Be thorough but gentle. Vigorous scrubbing can scratch and remove the paint. Before you wash the car body, hose it down to get rid of the surface dust, and then clean and polish such exterior surfaces as vinyl hardtops, convertible tops, glass windows and sunroofs, chrome bumpers and trim, side mirrors, wheel covers, whitewalls, and tires. Then, when you wash and rinse the car itself, you'll be sure to get off the last residue of all the substances you used for those jobs. Later sections of this chapter explain how to clean and restore some of those special surfaces. Use gentle cleansers unless you intend to rewax your car. Your car's sensitive skin requires gentle cleansers just as your own body does. Don't use laundry or dish soap or detergent; use a commercial car-washing product instead. Soap and detergent remove the wax and other protective finishes from the surface. Use biodegradable washing and cleaning products to minimize environmental pollution. Unlike the wastewater that is decontaminated and/or recycled by commercial car washes, the dirty, soapy water that you use travels down the sewers and into the waterways and oceans. If your car is really filthy and oily, it may be better to take it to a car wash. Always wash a car body from the top down so that soap scum and sludge don't muck up freshly washed areas. Remember to get to all the corners where dirt can collect and rust can form: behind the wheels, inside the fenders, and behind the bumpers.
